Elk Hunt Camp

Here is camp for the 2009 Elk Hunt...

And since there is snow on the ground and we have this nice fancy tent and an awesome stove....

Lets build a fire and keep the door open.  HELLO Crystal boys....  Have you not learned by now to close the door?  Check out the pic
Dough is stocking up the fire and the door is opened.

Dough's Utah 3pt buck

Here are the pictures of Dough's 3 pt Utah buck. I'm not sure the story about Elliot.... these pictures the deer looks to have all his horns.

Wyoming

I apologize for not posting these earlier. And I'm glad that we have people viewing the blog. I only know because of all the grief I am getting about updating it and putting up hunting pictures. Next time let Dough and Coop know about it, it's their blog. But like a good wife I take care of most things;) j/k

Here are a few pics of the land where they were hunting.

Now you going to wonder why I put this picture on here. You see the guys were really jealous of the tent that Paul and Steve had. Oh, and chalk that up on the list of things to buy when they go hunting again. (Thanks Steve, I appreciate it)

Now for the pictures you have all been waiting so impatiently for.......

Doughs Wyoming buck.

Dough tells a story about a river that the horse had to swim through..... Ya, Ya, Ya now you all know that the Crystal's BS more than they tell the truth especially when it comes to hunting or fishing. And yes my boys inherited that BS gene.

I'm not sure but I believe this is be the deer that Bill shot.

Maybe one day some of the men will log on and tell you their story so keep checking back. There is still a lot of hunting left this fall.

More Trail Cam Pics

We do get a few close-up shots on the trial cam.

As we were looking through these pics we kept thinking, "I wonder if these guys know they are on camera?" Then we get the picture below.
A special thanks goes out to these guys for not stealing our camera or our card. If you know him. Tell him thanks for us.

Coop and Shane ride horses into this wallow and this was the first time they have ever seen foot prints at the wallow and we also have a great picture of the guys who are also hunting there.

The Cost of Hunting

This video explains why I am so grateful that my husband hunts. :)

Does anyone believe him?

Well I think the price per pound is way above that in my house. Lets see we have many many hunts, don't forget the tent, camping supplies, the horses and everything for the horses and the year round care, the food these guys eat good on the mountain, the gear a bow and the arrows, and since Coops a dedicated hunter we add the muzzle loader in there and the ammo for it. Of course he doesn't always bring meat home so the previous years costs add in to the year he does bring something home. And lets not forget the monthly payments we usually send to the taxidermist. You think the red joke is only a joke.... not at all, there have been many of times when we have sent out taxidermist monthly checks to try and pay for the animal before its complete. And we also have the processing fee for the meat, when we don't turn my kitchen into a butcher house. What have I forgotten??

Bow Hunt Success

The bow hunt was a success for Shane, Coops hunting buddy. We wont mention the big one he missed earlier (pic is below). And that earlier in the morning Coop took a shot and the arrow was deflected by a branch. Yes, A branch... We are glad one of them brought home some meat. And man is this meat expensive.

More Trail Cam Pics

After all your requests I decided to post a few more trail cam pics. I love the calf. It amazes me the amount of animals that come into a wallow. And the amount of crappy pictures we get. But these ones are still neat.

New Hunting Season

It is a new hunting season. Some of us rejoice and some mope around all for different reasons. One reason the bow hunters are moping around is because they missed this elk the other day. And we just feel lucky to have captured a picture of him on the trail cam. Isn't this awesome. It only takes a couple of thousands of pictures to get one like this.
Here are a few more trail cam pics I thought we could share with you.

This is so neat to watch this bull in the wallow. (sp?) Anyways after they saw these pics they decided to turn the camera to video mode and it didn't work. I guess we need to take a few minutes to read the instructions Ugh, men.

The guys head out to hunt in Wyoming soon and we will post the pics if any of them are successful.
Dough Boy did shoot Elliot as the kids called him. (check out open season the cartoon if you need any further clarification) But I didn't get any pics and not sure if anyone else did. Happy Hunting everyone.

Draw Update

:( Yes that is a sad face. We didn't draw any awesome tags this year.... Bill did draw a general deer tag, and so did Rye. I know this because we put Rye's hunts on my cc and Bill somehow has them emailing the results to my email.
You can expect Coop to be hunting this fall he is a dedicated hunter they should call it obsessive hunter and he will also be archery elk hunting. I believe Dough is also a dedicated hunter and he enjoyed the muzzle loader elk hunt last year and I expect him to purchase the tag again this year. We are still waiting to see if they draw a tag in Wyoming. I believe we have to wait until July to find out if they drew in Wyoming. Oh and remember we paid extra money so they could have a better chance (100%) of drawing. What part of chance and draw do these men not understand, and does 100% go with it? I didn't think so.
I will keep on them about updating the blog with past pics to keep you all entertained.
Happy Hunting, Tanya

These men will regret letting me set up their blog because then I can put anything I want on it. :)

This week was the draw for a Bear tag, Coop had 6 pts and he read in a magazine that his odds were 100% . Guess what he did not draw. I can chuckle and see the humor in this but Coop doesn't think it is at all funny. This article also suggested that they have 100% chance of drawing a Wyoming deer tag if they spend a bunch more money for some special tag. I'm still waiting for my chuckle on that one too.

So what is 100% chance, it is still a chance and the idiot who published the article needs to realize that it is still a draw and they have no clue who or how many will apply for a hunt or multiple hunts.

Just a fair warning next year, Coop will have 7 pts.

Where do they think that meat comes from?
